BioDuro-Sundia opens Chinese drug discovery center
This new center intends to speed up R&D, cut expenses, and find new candidate cures faster
BioDuro-Sundia, a contract research, development, and manufacturing organization (CRDMO) based in Irvine, California, made the announcement on October 2, 2024 that it has established its new Compound Management Center in the Shanghai Free-Trade Zone in China. This particular center is located in the Waigaoqiao site of the company, which is one of seven locations that are dispersed between the United States and China. It is estimated that more over two thousand individuals are employed across all of the three locations.
In order to improve the capabilities of the CRDMO in the field of drug development, the new center is designed to allow for the systematic storage, handling, and management of compounds. BioDuro-Sundia describes the new center as being state-of-the-art. Customers will be able to take advantage of secure storage, thoroughly tracked inventory that are updated in real time, and samples that are ready to be accessible immediately in order to facilitate as fast as possible delivery, according to the explanation provided by the company.
The research and development processes will be sped up, prices will be reduced, and novel therapy candidate discoveries will be made more quickly thanks to the center's combination with currently existing drug discovery services.
Armin Spura, PhD, the Chief Executive Officer of BioDuro-Sundia, stated in a news statement that was distributed by the firm on October 2 that "Our new Compound Management Center represents a significant step forward in our commitment to providing world-class drug discovery services." Through the integration of this cutting-edge compound management system with our drug discovery platform, we are able to provide our customers with solutions that are both more dependable and more expedient in order to bring their innovative medication candidates to market, which will ultimately help patients all over the world.
According to BioDuro-Sundia, a compound storage laboratory that is equipped with real-time temperature and humidity control will have the capacity to manage more than 400,000 compounds, regardless of whether they are solid or liquid. In order to provide completely automated operations, it is outfitted with a liquid handling station, and sample management software is used to keep track of the steps taken at each and every stage of the lifecycle. The following are some of the services that can be provided: storage, weighing, dissolving, plating, analysis using liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC–MS), and distribution.
