Bormioli Pharma Expands Operations in North America
The North American branch of the Italian company has experienced a 47% growth.
Bormioli Pharma, a global manufacturer of pharmaceutical packaging and medical devices located in Milan, Italy, revealed on March 12, 2024 that the company experienced a 47% growth in North American sales for 2023. The company attributes the rise to developing infrastructure and increased capacity in the North American market.
Four years ago, the company broadened its presence in the United States by establishing a commercial branch in the country. We have set up an FDA-approved warehouse and specific product offerings that align with regional standards. This allowed the company's US customers to simplify purchasing processes and minimize supply chain complexity, as stated by Bormioli.
Bormioli highlights the substantial expansion in the pharmaceutical glass vials market as a key factor in its success, with the US market playing a significant role. The company entered into an agreement with a US-based allergen immunotherapy company to provide packaging kits containing aluminum seals, rubber stoppers, Type I molded glass vials, and Type I tubular glass expansion 33 vials.
In 2023, the company has pledged to focus on sustainable pharma packaging and boost the use of sustainable raw materials to 45%. The goal is to incorporate 50% sustainable raw materials into pharmaceutical packaging products by 2025. The company analyzed its sustainable packaging and collaborated with a clean technology company to utilize 100% recycled resin for creating a new pharmaceutical packaging bottle.
Bormioli Pharma provides a wide range of glass and plastic bottles, plastic and aluminum closures, and accessories across over 100 countries with nine plants in Europe. The company plans to exhibit its products and services at DCAT Week 2024 in New York City from March 18 to 21, 2024.
